Well our four legged friend certainly enjoyed the show although we couldn't quite get her to 'Hook a Duck!' A great day again at the Hatherleigh show and thanks as always to the trusted gang. A total of £125.30 was raised so thank you to everyone who visited our stand. We are planning some more events so do keep an eye on our Events Calendar.
Tiverton Show = 14th August 2011
Well our trested gan of volunteers excelled theemselves today. Not only did they battle yet again against the wind putting the tent up but put a magnificent display on of all our sale items. Thank you as always especial thanks to Derek and Silv who drove for 2 hours each way to help and Pat and Ian as always who left their gang of animals to help display all the items and last but not least to Sue who as always was their to pull people in and to share her Birthday cake and special Birthday present with us! Ellie also joined us who looks after our dogs up at Kinnings Kennels and thank you to her, who thought she was having a day off and did a tremendous job of pulling everything down! In total we raised £119.90.
Greyhound Sanctuary Fun Day
Our hardy volunteers were out again on Sunday, 24th July at Countess Weir. The sun did eventually shine but it was a bit grizzly to start. Thank you to all our supporters who came along and to Sally from the Grehound Sanctuary who invited us to join her. Sadly our favourite dog, Bear only managed a third prize this week but don't fret as I am sure he will be bouncing back at the Tiverton show - although watch our because it is rumoured that another of our favourites Paddy might be attending! The tombola proved popular as always and we raised a total of £75.50.
13/07/11 - K9focus has just been awarded full charitable status. A BIG BIG thank you to all our supporters who have worked so hard to make this possible. Please come and join our K9focus Community and tell us all about your dogs -Click here to be redirected.
Sadly I think the rain put a few people off and so only a selected few were at the concert today - what a treat people missed! Ian gave us a very individual performance which we all enjoyed. We were treated to some fine piano playing, classical songs and a finale on the manificent Church Organ. A treat indeed. Thank you everyone who came for your support - we raised a total of £61.75 which is brilliant. Good Luck Ian with the rest of the walk - we hope the blisters get better.
A BIG thank you to our Wandering Minstrel
Ian Honneyman
Another Typical Summer Day!
Well the rain came down in bucket loads but it didn't stop our team of volunteers putting up the tent and rattling the tins at the Elf Dog Show in Okehampton. It was quieter than expected which is a shame as the event was raising funds for the Exeter Lukemia Fund but we managed to raise a total of £77.40 of which we donated £15 to ELF. Well done those of you that braved the 'liquid sunshine' and supported us.
Fun at the Fayre!
We had a great day at Downlands Fayre yesterday. As always our volunteers worked so hard to make the day a success and get our stand erected. Big thanks to everyone as usual especially Pat, Ian, Derek & Silv who I believe were up at 5am to get the tent to the site. Julie, Sue & Mischa did a great job pulling people in and getting them to part with their cash and in total we raised £195 which is much needed at this present time with soaring vet bills! Please do come and support us at our next event (see diary opposite) and don't forget if you have any unwanted presents/items then do let us know as we are now desperate for tombola prizes. Once again a big thanks to everyone for their continued support and enjoy the pictures.
Rain and Wind didn't stop the fun at the Parkham Beer Festival
Well the elements did not help us one little bit while we were putting the tent up but it still didn't stop us having fun and raising a few pounds. Best of all another K9 dog won best in show. See his story below. A BIG BIG thank you as always to our volunteers who braved the weather to help us - what a great team.
Well Done Bear
Last month Bear was our featured dog, having come to us from the pound where his time was up and he was due to be put to sleep. Ken, (who sadly had recently lost his much loved companion Horrace) called us after reading about Paddy winning Best in Show. He came to visit Bear the next day and who would have thought that a week later he would be the proud dad of a Best in Show dog himself. Bear also attended the Braunton Fayre a day later and picked up Reserve Best in Show - not bad for a pound dog that no one wanted! Sadly there are so many large dogs in the pound at the moment, all needing homes. Many people think that because a dog is a stray and unwanted that there is something wrong with it - I think our two best in show boys have proved this to be a myth. PLEASE, if you have room for a four legged friend, do consider one of our abandoned dogs - they have a lot of love to give.
Okehampton May Fayre
What a great time we all had at the May Fayre in Okehampton on Saturday (1st May) despite
the weather not being kind! The days was made really special by three of our dogs getting
rosettes in the dog show culminating in Paddy being awarded Best in Show. Well done
Paddy and well done to Janet at Kinnings who worked with him when he first came into our
rescue and got his coat shining - but a massive well done to his Sarah & Wayne, his mum
and dad who turned him out looking magnificent on Saturday - an absolute credit to you
both.
A BIG BIG thank you as always to our volunteers who worked so hard to get the tent
and stand erected and manned all day and of course to all our supporters who came along.
In all we raised just short of £225.
Do come and see us at our next event on 7th May at Sampford Courtney.

Hear Ye, Hear Ye - Sonia is to be silent!
UPDATE: Well Sonia made it and was silent for nearly a whole day!! In the process she managed to raise just under £300 - well done Sonia and a BIG BIG thank you from all our woofs. Also a big thank you to all her sponsors. Now anyone who knows Sonia will understand that for her to remain silent for any length of time takes a whole lot of commitment! In order to raise funds for the rescue Sonia has volunteered to do a 'sponsored silence' on 15th April. Sonia works at the Tally Ho in Hatherleigh and will remain silent for the whole of her shift on that day. You can either sponsor Sonia directly by emailing your pledge to lynne@k9focus.co.uk or alternatively why not join in and get some of your friends to sponsor her. You can download a Sponsor Form by clicking this link.
Come along and support Sonia on the 15th - it will only cost you a pint!
Our thanks to the Tally Ho, Hatherleigh for allowing us to undertake this event.
A BIG thank you to Pets at Home
and all our supporters who came along to help raise funds for Millie. We raised a total of £88.45. Thank you everyone for your hard work. Millie really does appreciate it and says she feels very special!
Bag Packing in Okehampton
On Saturday, 26th February our volunteers hit the Co-op in Okehampton in order to raise funds for Maxi (see our Special Appeal) Not afraid to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in they raised a fantastic £85.07. Some of our rescue dogs were also there to help, and our competition of guess the weight of Duke caused a lot of interest. Thank you everyone for your support and especially the Co-op for allowing us to take over the front of their store and I just know you are dying to know - Duke weighed in at a solid 62.5 kilos!
Our two main packers showing off their K9 t-shirts
Our Christmas Auction has now finished - a big thanks to everyone who supported us as we raised nearly £104.
There is still time to book a stall at our show or sponsor a round/event. £15 donation is all we are looking for which will help all our abandoned dogs. Click here for a sponsorship form and here for a trade stand form.
A full programme of events will be available to download later in the month.
